Every spring the Preschool students and Mrs. Wasko raise butterflies!
They start with little caterpillars and watch as they grow and turn into butterflies.
Mrs. Gibbons and Level 2 students explore how sound waves travel in water.
We make an effort to incorporate skills learned in all areas:
Social Studies unit 2 entitled "A Nation of Many People" led us to investigate our nationalities. These students located one of the countries on a map, created a flag for a country of their culture, and then celebrated with an "Ethnic Food Festival" which reflected their own heritage.
Participated in distance learning through the Challenger Learning Center at Wheeling Jesuit University on December 2. The class split into teams for Hurricane tracking, Volcano tracking, Evacuation team, and a Communication team. Each team had practiced to perform their specific jobs. And on Mission Day they worked with Mission Control to track both a Category Three hurricane and an erupting volcano on the island of Montserrat. Our Mission was successful and the students had the opportunity to put in to practice Science and Math skills in "real world jobs"!
Science classes are infused with technology! We will be combining many techniques learned in various software programs into the completion of Science classwork, homework, and labs.
